John J. Davis Near-Death Experience

The Billboard

The other day I had to go downtown to pick up a medication refill that my normal pharmacy had run out of and on the way, I saw a billboard that caught my attention. It said:

“Jesus, the only way to God.”

I live in a conservative city in Colorado and there are more churches here than anywhere I have ever lived. I completely respect people’s views and I’m proud to live in a country where religious freedom is available for all, but I feel like I need to address this billboard about Jesus because it’s just not true.

At the end of my NDE, my guide Allen took me to the most beautiful meadow I have ever seen with beautiful green rolling hills with wildflowers and grasses. I have never seen any meadow here on Earth as beautiful as that meadow on the Other Side. It was a perfect day, the sun was shining, no wind, and not a single cloud in the sky. Then Allen left and I thought I was standing there by myself. So, I turned around to look at the rest of the meadow and there was Jesus, standing three feet in front of me. He didn’t tell me who he was, I just knew. He was wearing a glowing white robe with a golden sash around his waist, and he had gold-colored sandals that laced up his calves. He was different from everyone else I saw that day because when I looked at his face, all I could see were shards of light that looked like lightning coming from his face, and it was so bright that I couldn’t see his features.

Then he spoke to me and said, “You must tell them there is no death.” I knew instantly he wanted me to share my experience with people back on Earth and I have tried my best to share that message with anyone who would listen. But while I was standing with him in that meadow, I could feel his essence, and I could feel how much love and compassion he has for everyone here on Earth. He knows how difficult life is here and he’s aware of the struggles and hardships we experience during our lives. But I also felt something else. I had the strongest feeling that not him nor anyone else on the Other Side believes that there is only one religion or only one way to God. What I felt instead, was the belief that any religion we follow that brings us closer to God is the right religion for us.

God is our creator, our Father, and he wants us to enjoy our lives and accomplish what we came here to accomplish, but he doesn’t demand we follow one faith or one person. There is no religion on Earth that has all the answers; all religions have truth. I think if any one of us could ask Jesus what religion to follow he would probably say to follow the one that best teaches you how to love God, love each other, and to live a life free of judgement.
